THERE ARE 30 ISLANDS YOU CAN VISIT ON THE WILD ATLANTIC WAY
The Wild Atlantic Way is home to a variety of islands, both inhabited and uninhabited. Some are very remote, requiring a chartered boat to reach; others lie close to the mainland and are accessible by car, ferry or even cable car.
Some of the most popular islands to visit or stay on year-round include Valentia Island in County Kerry, County Mayo’s Achill Island, and the remote Tory Island in Donegal, which boasts its very own island king.
In the milder months, access to the wild and historic Skellig Islands and the once prosperous but now abandoned Blasket Islands involves a weather-dependent sea crossing. It is recommended that passengers book well in advance.
